Applying to Western as a Transfer Student
Transfer Student Admissions Criteria
- Definition of a Transfer Student: Any student who has taken college courses after high school graduation.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- If you have less that 30 earned hours completed, you must also submit your high school transcripts and ACT or SAT test scores (read more below in application process)
Application Process
1. Apply for admission
- Online Application (no application fee!) or
- Paper application- (Download here, submit with $30 application fee), or, request that one be sent to you.
There is no application fee for online applications. Please include the application fee of $30.00 for paper applications. Make checks payable to Western State College of Colorado.
If you have completed an AA, AS, or AGS degree from a Colorado two-year school, and are a Colorado resident, your application fee can be waived through our Pathway Program.
2. Request that your college transcripts be sent to Western.
Earned fewer than 30 hours of college work? You must send us official transcripts of both your high school and all college coursework, as well as ACT and/or SAT scores if you are under the age of 21.
Earned 30 hours or more? Send official transcripts from each college you have attended.
3. Two Letters of Recommendation (optional, but required for Scholarship Application).
4. Personal essay (optional, but required for Scholarship Application).
- One to two pages, double spaced, typed
- Any topic of your choice - let us know more about you!
- After you have applied, if you are admitted, we will send you an evaluation of your transfer credit along with your acceptance letter. This process takes 2-4 weeks.
