On-Campus Living

Residence Halls:  Students who have not lived on-campus for one year at another institution or who are 20 years or younger are required to live in a residence hall.  Western has two different residence hall options, Mears Complex and Escalante Complex

Apartments: Western has two on-campus apartment complexes for upper classmen and transfer students. In order to live in an on-campus apartment, students must have lived on-campus for at least a year, or be at least 21 years old. Living on campus can be a great way to start your college experience at Western. There are some pluses to living on-campus:  You don't have to worry about landlords, signing a lease, or paying extra for heat, cable, or internet!

Chipeta Hall
This former residence hall was transformed in 1997 into an on-campus apartment for upper classmen. These unfurnished, or furnished, one and two bedroom apartments come equipped with full kitchens, bathrooms, and a living room. A computer lab and laundry facilities are also in the building.

Shavano Apartments
This complex includes Hermosa, Teocalli, Shavano, Ophir and Alpine apartment buildings, all named after Colorado mountains. These one-and two-bedroom furnished facilities include a bathroom, living room, and a kitchenette.  These buildings offer wireless internet.

Meal plans are optional for residents of the apartments. Some of the options that students in the apartments can choose from include the Gothic Plan which provides 8 meals a week at Keating Dining Hall, or the Slate Plan which offers 130 meals per semester and $170 Flex Dollars which can be used at Packer’s Grill or for to-go or guest meals at Keating Dining Hall.

Off Campus Living

Living off campus is also an option.  Rental properties can range from $300 for one room in a shared house to $650 for a one bedroom apartment as monthly rent.
