What do you do for fun when you aren't working at Western?

When I’m not working, I like to spend time with family and friends, golf and read.

What is your favorite meal at your favorite Gunnison or Crested Butte restaurant?

I’m very partial to Slogar’s fried chicken and mashed potatoes and Donita’s enchiladas. I’m always with great friends or family when I’m at these restaurants in Crested Butte. I love to celebrate in such a beautiful mountain environment. Oh, yes, then there’s Garlic Mike’s in Gunnison—Penne pasta with pesto sauce and pine nuts. Say that five times!

What is your favorite thing about living in Gunnison?

The people are my favorite things about Gunnison. People here are very friendly and caring. We know our neighbors and we love to talk to strangers. If you come to Gunnison, don’t be alarmed if people you don’t know say “hello” to you. That is just how we are.

Advice for prospective students thinking of attending WSC?

My advice to prospective students is to come prepared to study and to experience new things. This is a great environment to experience something new because there is so much to do and so many people willing to help. You will not be lost in a crowd. Also, yes, it does get cold. But….you won’t get cold if you have proper cold weather clothing. So splurge on a warm coat, warm gloves and warm boots. Then, you can just enjoy the beauty of snow in the Colorado mountains!
