What do you do for fun when you aren't working for Western?
Hmmm I'll try to keep this short. When I'm not in the office I hop on my mountain bike and ride out to the 100's of miles of sweet single track at Hartman Rocks and Crested Butte or grab a rope to do some climbing up Taylor Canyon, Gods Grag or our new secret spot Blue Creek. Oh and the Skyland boulders are great for bouldering as well. I also really like to hop on one of the slack lines set up around campus to get in my Zen mode. And then I also make time for "coffee time" on the weekends.
What is your favorite meal at your favorite Gunnison or Crested Butte restaurant?
In Gunny it's easy, I probably hit the local deli called the Fire Brand at least once a week, but it usually turns out to be more like 3 or 4 times a week. I visit my happy place when I savor their plump chocolate chip cookies which are even better when dipped in coffee for about 4 or 5 seconds. And the Secret Stash is my favoite hang out in Crested Butte...no one does pizza like them.
What is your favorite thing about living in Gunnison?
I have two favorites. The friendly and active people of Gunny make this place so much fun to live in, and of course, the incredible access to the outdoors...to make it simple I'll just say it's the sweetest place I've ever lived.
Advice for prospective students thinking of attending WSC?
My advice to any prospective students is to choose a school that best fits who they are as a personand to seek out adventures and new experiences. You'll be much more inclined to learn and grow if you welcome change.
