Borick Hall
Borick Hall is the new Business, Accounting, and Economics building. The $7 million building is the first major academic building to be built, furnished, and equipped 100% through private donations on a public college or university campus in Colorado. Business is our largest academic program with about 20% of the student body declaring Business as their major.
Worried about finishing college in 4 years?
Western offers a 4 year graduation plan – if you meet all of the requirements and still don’t finish in four years, we will take care of you tuition bill until you graduate!
Costa Rica Trip
Many of our courses offer field experiences in which students are able to apply their knowledge from the classroom. Last semester Outdoor Leadership and Resort Management students took a trip to Costa Rica.

Study Abroad
Western offers many opportunities to study abroad. Some of the most recent WSC sponsored trips include: Mountaineering in Argentina, Costa Rica Spanish Immersion Course, Drawing in Italy, Galapagos and Ecuadorian Rainforest Exploration, and English, History and Theatre courses in Bath, England. Western also has great relationships with numerous Study Abroad Organizations with programs across the globe.
Colorado Outdoor Recreation Experience
The Colorado Outdoor Recreation Experience (CORE) is a great way for all students to learn about themselves, life skills, group dynamics, and techniques necessary in managing a group. CORE is a semester long field course offered through the Recreation Department.
Tenderfoot Dig Site
Our Anthropology students are integral members of ongoing research and excavation of the Tenderfoot Dig Site revealing artifacts that change what is known about the Folsom people, hunter-gatherers from about 8,000 years ago.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Our Accounting students receive expertise in the classroom and get hands on practice preparing tax returns through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) each spring. Students and community members are welcome to use these services free of charge.
Peak Productions
Peak Productions, the WSC’s Theatre organization, has been producing high quality productions for more than 70 years for the campus and Gunnison community. Their most recent play was “Little Shop of Horrors.” Students in all majors get involved with our productions.
Education Students
Many of our Education students observe and work with children in the on-campus daycare for class assignments. The daycare center is a resource for WSC students to gain experience working with children.
