A description of the Mathematics Program at Western

Join other math graduates in our facebook group.

The math program at Western is more than a collection of classes. Our faculty are dedicated to undergraduate mathematics education. They use a variety of teaching methods including lecture, small group work, technology, and student projects to get students engaged in mathematics. Our students work together on homework in the math study room, they are employed as tutors and graders for the department, and they get individual attention from the faculty.

In addition to coursework, students in the department attend a regional undergraduate math conference in February where our seniors present their research projects. We have a banquet in the spring where scholarship winners and graduates are honored. We have a barbecue in the fall to encourage new students to become part of the community.

"My favorite thing about Western is the small class sizes...I really enjoy being an actual person to my professors, not just a number."
