Winter 2010 Commencement Ceremony
Western State College of Colorado (WSC) will confer bachelor’s degrees to 75 students participating in its 2010 Winter Commencement on Saturday, Dec. 18. Exercises begin at 10 a.m. at the Paul Wright Gymnasium on the WSC campus.

Colorado State Sen. Dan Gibbs, who graduated from Western in 1999 with a degree in sociology, will present the commencement address. Since 2007, Gibbs has represented Senate District 16, which includes Summit, Grand, Gilpin, Clear Creek, and western parts of Jefferson and Boulder Counties. Prior to his service in the State Senate, Gibbs served a year in the Colorado House of Representatives for House District 56. In the senate, Gibbs has served on the agriculture, natural resources committee and chaired the transportation committee. In addition to holding public office, Gibbs is a certified wildland firefighter.
Chandra Sheridan, of Gunnison, will serve as the student commencement speaker. She is a non-traditional student who is graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration.
The faculty marshal is Greg Haase, professor of sociology. Assistant faculty marshals are Cynthia Drexel, professor of business administration and Al Caniff, professor of art. Junior marshals are students Kellyn Kirch and Lauren Zeinstra.
