Campus Computing Account

Students receive a campus computing account that allows them to log on to MyWSCU, access computers in the computer labs and use the wireless network.

Your campus computing account username is your Western State Colorado University identification number which is printed on your WSCU student identification card (stuxxxxxx).  The default password will be provided by letter when you are accepted. Before using your account for the first time, you should enroll in the online password reset tool this will allow you to create your own password.

The MyFiles tool allows you access to your files in your Student Drive and most files from Teacher Folders from off campus via the Internet. Click here to go to MyFiles - OFF CAMPUS.  This access will not work on campus.

MyFiles - ON CAMPUS

The MyFiles tool allows you access to your files in your Student Drive and most files from Teacher Folders.  On the campus computer or on your personal laptop go to Start or the Windows icon on the lower left hand corner of your screen then go to Run or type in the "Search programs and files".  Type in \\Labserver then type in your login information.  If your student ID number ends in an odd number you will be in "Student1" if your ID number ends in an even number then you will be in "Student2".  For example if your id number is 123456 you will want to type in \\Labserver\Student2\stu123456.

Your username will be wsc\stuxxxxxx (using your student number) and your normal password.

You are allotted 300 MB of storage space on your student drive while you are a student at WSCU.

E-mail

Student e-mail at WSCU is hosted by Google and is available at MadJack Mail.

Login by typing your username (stuxxxxxx) and password.  E-mail addresses are usually in the format firstname.lastname@western.edu, however there can be name conflicts, so be sure to check when you log in to Madjack Mail.

POP/IMAP are available as well as the ability to migrate your email to your Alumni email account by going here.

Student Helpdesk

Run by students for students, the Student Helpdesk is your main resource for getting computing answers on campus. Passwords don't work? Can't get connected to the internet? Don't know how to get a paper to print double-sided? Your computer is just plain broken? Visit the Helpdesk!  Or call (970) 943-3333.

Internet & Network Access

If you are living on campus, each residence hall room provides access to the network via a wired or wireless connection. Read More about connectivity types & requirements in the residence halls, including information on using online gaming consoles.

Wireless access is also available in all academic buildings and most outdoor common areas.  There are two wireless networks available on campus.  WSCU is the unsecure wireless network available to students and guests.  For more information on how to connect, visit Network Access Requirements.

Computer Labs

Western State Colorado University maintains a number of student computing labs. The computers in these labs contain all the software that is used during course instruction. You can also access the Internet and email from these facilities. These labs are maintained largely through funding from the Student Computer Fee.

Printing is available in almost all computer labs on campus.  Each student is given a 600 page quota each semester.   Read more about the print policy at WSCU.

Personal Computers

Many students choose to bring their own computer to campus. Although this is not necessary, we do try to make integrating personal computers into our technology environment as simple as possible.  There are a few requirements, so if you are bringing a computer you already have or are planning on purchasing one, make sure to review our personal computer recommendations and requirements.
