Important Travel Information
The Gunnison Valley is rural and beautiful, but it is also a resort and recreational hub with a full-service commercial airport only a mile from Western's campus. This summer the airport offers jet service from Denver and Houston.
That's the good news.
The challenge is that flights are frequently expensive. As a result, we encourage you to book travel early.
Another option for travelers: we will be running shuttle vans from Denver, Grand Junction and Montrose, which have larger airports and significantly lower fares. Denver is about a four-hour drive one-way; Grand Junction is about three hours; Montrose (on the way to Grand Junction) is about one hour. We encourage you to shop around. Please remember that the welcome banquet begins at 5:30 on Wednesday, July 22. We will be running shuttles from all airports that arrive in time for that, along with shuttles that depart later in the day.
All information about shuttle rides, including times and fares, is on the registration page.
