How to search the library catalogs
Search Savage Library for local holdings, Marmot Global for holdings of libraries throughout Colorado's Western Slope, and Prospector for holdings of major research libraries in Colorado.
Searching for Books
Local Collections
To search for books, journals in print format, DVD's, CD's, microfiche...in fact, anything that resides physically within the Savage Library, go to the Savage Library Homepage and click on Search the Library Catalog. Notice that keyword is the default search field and the library catalog is set to Western State College. You may change the keyword search to a different field, including author, title, or Library of Congress (LC) Subject Headings. You may also choose the Advanced Search option if you wish to do a Boolean search.

Regional Collections--Marmot Library Network and Prospector
Marmot is a consortium of libraries serving the region that encompasses Western Colorado. If the Western State College library does not have what you are looking for, click on Marmot Global to search the catalogs of dozens of libraries throughout the Western Slope simultaneously.
If you find what you are looking for residing at another library, you may Place a Hold on the item from your own computer. This is similar to an Inter-Library Loan. Your item will automatically be sent to the Savage Library where you may pick it up at the Circulation Desk.

Prospector is a unified catalog of twenty three academic, public and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming. Through Prospector you have access to over 20 million books, journals, DVDs, CDs, videos and other materials held in these libraries. With a single search you can identify and borrow materials from the collections. Prospector is one of the buttons at the top of the Savage Lbrary catalog page. You may place an ILL for items found during a Prospector search by using Western State College's online Book Request Form.
