Partners in the Parks: Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Black Canyon 1 021.jpgStudents spend a week in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park as part of a Partners in the Parks program, a nation-wide 2016 Centennial Initiative Project sponsored by Western State College and Southern Utah University in cooperation with the National Collegiate Honors Council. Students work closely with the Rangers of the Black Canyon National Park and the Curecanti National Recreation area as well as with Western faculty in an interdisciplinary educational program that includes experiential learning opportunities in geology, ecology, archeology, biology, wilderness management, cultural heritage and history. Students examine the design, operation and purpose of our national parks. This program is open to all Honors Program undergraduates. For more information please refer to www.partnersintheparks.org
