Graduate Programs at Western

Enrollment in Western's graduate programs has more than doubled since 2010, attracting more than 200 students from across the U.S. and the world in 2014-'15.

These growing Master’s programs serve our region, our nation and the world by educating advanced students to make substantial contributions to their professions.

Western's graduate programs make our campus a dynamic learning and research environment for all students. Residential, low-residency, and online programs bring together preeminent professors and practitioners in an academic environment dedicated to excellence.

Western offers the following master's degree programs:

Masters Program in High Altitude Exercise Physiology
Master in Environmental Management (MEM)
Master of Arts in Education
  • Master of Arts in Education
  • Initial teacher/principal licensure
Graduate Program in Creative Writing
  • Low-residency MA/MFA in one of three tracks: Genre Fiction, Poetry with an Emphasis on Versecraft or Screenwriting for Film and Television.
  • The program also offers a Certificate in Publishing.
  • During each July intensive, the program also presents Writing the Rockies, the region's preeminent writers' conference, which is fully open to the public.
