National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS)
Welcome to the NOLS program.
(For NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute, click here.)
NOLS and Western State Colorado University have developed a partnership to provide college credit for NOLS courses.
Once a student enrolls in a NOLS course, credit registration is available through Western Extended Studies. Upon successful completion of the course and assignments due, Recreation and Outdoor Education credit is awarded. The amount of credit earned is based upon the length of the course.
BEGINNING JUNE 1, 2016, ALL REGISTRATIONS FOR FALL 2016 AND FUTURE TERMS WILL BE CHARGED $125.00 PER CREDIT. This brings NOLS Expedition equitable in credit cost through Extended Studies with all other wilderness programs we partner with to provide registration and grading, as well as financial services with AmeriCorps and 529 plan funds processing.
Effective for the 2016-2017 academic year, credit registrations for NOLS Expedition courses through Western Extended Studies received beginning June 1, 2016, the credit cost will be $125.00 per credit. SUMMER 2016 TERM REGISTRATIONS WILL REMAIN AT THE CURRENT CREDIT COST. If you have sent your registration to us for the fall term before June 1, 2016, you will not be billed the increased cost.
Additional information for questions concerning summer 2016 courses: Your NOLS course is placed into a Western school term based upon the END DATE of your course. If the end date of your course is August 22 or later, this is a fall 2016 term course, and you will be billed the new rate of $125.00 per credit hour.
Remember! If we have received your fall registration before June 1, 2016, you will not be assessed new charges.
The 2016-2017 registration packets are available for download beginning June 1, 2016. After this date, new registrations using the 2015-2016 packet will only be honored for Summer 2016 registrations.
