LEED Restoration

Western State Colorado University has been actively seeking to reduce its environmental footprint. As part of those efforts, WSC supports sustainable building practices. To demonstrate its environmental commitment, WSCU is an active participant in the LEED building process. The recently renovated home of Environmental Studies—Kelley Hall—was certified  LEED Gold.  Western students were an integral part of that process through the selection of nontoxic building materials and trail restoration adjacent to campus. Through this project, EVNS and PLRM students partnered with Gunnison High School to conduct trail restoration and erosion control to broaden the positive environmental footprint of the building and to ensure a positive recreational experience for trail users.
