Community Garden

Community Garden

Students developing a plan for the garden

This project's goal was to create a community garden on the WSC campus. The students repaired the fence, the cold frame, and  the wheelbarrow.

They moved the compost shed to the garden to use as a potential greenhouse space, made a sign, and put the beds to sleep for the winter (spread compost and leaf pulp over the beds). These students also dug up the rest of the potatoes and planted some garlic.

"We got so much done! It is amazing, many hands make light work. We did not expect to move the shed, yet we had enough help to do it. We had a nice educational talk and some local food snacks to munch on, and it seems like we were really able to teach a little something about not only the importance of local food, but what kind of work it takes to produce."-Samantha Duchaine
