Content Test
Candidates seeking an endorsement in elementary or special education must complete the appropriate statewide content assessment if it is their first teaching license or if they are adding an endorsement to a current teaching license, BEFORE they can begin the program. Candidates seeking a secondary or K-12 endorsement can either pass the endorsement content assessment exam OR meet the 24 semester hours of course credit as demonstrated through transcript evaluation, BEFORE they can begin the program.
Special Education NOTE: If you are seeking a special education endorsement you need to pass the elementary exam to enter the program (the elementary exam tests your knowledge in math, science, social studies, and English the content areas in which you will be supporting students) and the special education generalist exam to earn licensure at the end of the first year of the program.
A good elementary or special education study guide is What Your Fifth Grader Needs to Know, Revised Edition: Fundamentals of a Good Fifth-Grade Education (Core Knowledge Series) by E.D. Hirsch Jr. and Core Knowledge Foundation
NOTE: KEEP ALL HARD COPY CONTENT TEST RESULTS BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED TO UPLOAD THEM TO YOUR COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION LICENSURE APPLICATION AT THE END OF THE YEAR
