Peak Productions

Opportunities in the theatre program at Western

"Being a part of the small, intimate theatre program at Western was an incredible time in my life.  Not only did I get tons of experience and one-on-one instruction from professors, but I made friends that I'll have forever."

peak2As a COTH major with a Theatre Emphasis, you are a part of an important learning community with many opportunities for both academic and practical experiences in acting, directing, playwriting, design, theatre history and theory. Theatre students participate in regional conferences and work outside of school in the greater Gunnison community.  Students also have a unique opportunity to work closely with faculty on a producing board, Peak Productions, in every aspect required to mount full-scale theatrical productions.

Possible jobs for a Western State theatre graduate include becoming peak3theatre practitioners in all areas of the art—design, acting, directing, stage-managing and teaching; this program provides a strong foundation hands-on experience in becoming a teaching-artist where you can go on to work in K-12 education.
