Graduate School Entrance Exams

Most graduate and professional schools require applicants to submit scores on admissions tests.

Registration booklets for these admission tests can be found at the Student Affairs Office (Taylor, Room 301).

  • GRE: This test is usually required for entrance to most graduate programs.

    • The general GRE (Graduate Record Exam) aptitude test is divided into three parts: Analytical, Verbal, and Quantitative

    • Some graduate programs will also require you to take the GRE Subject Test as well. The GRE Subject Test is an examination of a major field of study. Example - Biology Subject Test.

  • GMAT: Graduate Management Admission Test, for students interest in attending business school (MBA degree).

  • LSAT: Law School Admission Test.

  • MCAT: Medical Admission Test.

  • VCAT: Veterinary College Admission Test.

  • DAT: Dental Admission Test.

  • MAT: Miller Analogy Test requires the solution of a series of intellectual problems stated in the form of analogies. Some graduate schools require this entrance exam instead of the GRE exam.

PREPARATION FOR THE ADMISSION TEST

Career Services cannot emphasize enough the importance of preparing for the admission tests. Borrow practice books from the Library. Use the blank order form in the test application booklets to buy practice books. Check at the bookstore for study guides you can purchase. Consider taking a review course.  WSCU's Extended Studies Office has been known to offer different preparation courses.  For example, in Fall 2012 an LSAT Test Preparation Class was organized for community members as well as current students.
