Turning Point Mentor Sign Up Form
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Turning Point Mentor! The Turning Point Program is now offering students the opportunity to choose to partner with a mentor- a volunteer willing to offer support for the student on their journey towards success. We will assign mentors to students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Your role as a mentor will consist of the following:
- In Person Meetings
Meet with your student(s) at least two times over the course of the semester. Ideally, the first meeting should take place within the first month of classes.
- Email Contact
Email your student(s) every other week over the course of the semester. Suggested topics will be given to mentors from the Turning Point Program and may be used at the discretion of the mentor.
- Overall Guidance
Depending on your comfort level, you are welcomed and encouraged to be a "go-to" person for your student(s) should they have issues. You will be provided a resource manual that will provide you with referral and resource information available on-campus. Your willingness to connect with the student and be a resource for them is an important part of their success.
All mentors will receive a resource manual to assist them when working with their students. I will be contacting mentors with their student assignment(s) as students sign up for the program. Thank you again for your interest and time to help Western students succeed!
If you need assistance with this form or have any questions, please contact Katie Miller, Turning Point Coordinator, at kmiller@western.edu or by phone at 970-943-3216.
